Lagos Health Commissioner: COVID-19 in Lagos Might Rise to 120,000 by August



The commissioner for health in Lagos state, the person of Prof. Akin Abayomi has acclaimed that the number of coronavirus cases in the state may blow up to 120,000 between July and August, 2020.

He stated that:  “Just a month ago, on April 7, we saw 10 cases per day. Two weeks later it was 32, then 70 cases. We are now seeing above 100 cases per day. This shows our graph is moving in a gentle incline upwards,”


He also said that, showing a pattern that is now seen on the national aggregate.
As forecast by the Cable, If Lagos state were to record 120,000 cases by July-August as stated by Prof. Akin Abayomi, the entire country will probably peak at over 300,000 at about the same time.
Earlier yesterday 25th May 2020, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has confirmed three hundred and thirteen new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

This was confirmed by the health sector in a tweet on its official personal blogging site account on Sunday night 24th May 2020 at about 11:12 PM. The new update brings the overall confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 7839 in Nigeria.
