Covid-19: Femi Fani-Kayode Criticise Kano Governor over Easing of Lockdown in the State


Femi Fani-Kayode has criticize Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for asking the Federal Government to relax the lockdown in Kano State.

It was remember that Ganduje had pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to ease the total lockdown that was imposed on Kano State.

He made this appeal during the inauguration of a seven-member specialised experts to support the State’s technical committee at the Government House.Recall that on Monday, President Buhari in a live broadcast announced the total lockdown of the State with immediate effect to stem the spread of coronavirus. This decision was entail by the mass death recorded in the State.

However, Ganduje asked that the lockdown be eased urgently in order to mitigate the economic hardship.
Governor Ganduje stated that Kano State people were running out of food, especially during the fasting period.


Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode Reacting in a post on his Twitter page, ponder why the Kano governor would ask for the lockdown to be relaxed when the state keeps recording an increase in the number of coronavirus cases.

Fani-Kayode wrote on his twitter page: wrote: “It amazes me that the Governor of Kano can be asking for a relaxation of the lockdown in his state because of Ramadan even when his people are still dropping dead like flies.

Meantime, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday 1st of May 2020 evening, confirmed 238 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Nigeria of which 92 of the new case were reported in Kano State. This brings it to a total of 311 cases and 3 death of COVID-19 has been recorded in the state as at today 2nd May 2020 according to NCDC report.
Generally in Nigeria, the total confirmed cases are now  2,170 of COVID-19, 351 Discharged and 68 Deaths recorded.
